As a living being what do you cherish?
How do these ideas, beings, things and/or experiences help you navigate through life?

Personally, I feel as if many of the things we cherish in life lie humbly in the background, and it is until I are reminded of our connection to them that we realise their importance.

First, I cherish my past; my childhood experience, memories, passions, all which make up who I am now. I often feel great nostalgia from objects and places which were significant to me as a kid - times of pure joy, memories of spending time with family, and sometimes wish to relive these moments. Over the past years, I have felt the pull between the need to grow up, but also playing around and cherishing my life as a youth. In my current life, I try to find the balance between moving forward but also making sure to stay in the present and cherish my moments in the current age.

I also cherish my freedom, and this comes in several dimensions. I usually keep my options open, and this translates to my way about life - going with the flow. I am still exploring my career horizons and learning about the different paths I can take.

My freedom is a privilege; it has been gained through the hardship of revolutionaries, opportunities created by technological development, as well as the sweat shed by my parents. My parents immigrated to New Zealand around 25 years ago, in hope of creating a fresh life. Through their shifts from day to night with several jobs, my parents have been able to provide a healthy home, and pave the way for my sister and well to create bright futures. I am very fortunate to be able to pursue any career or goal that inspires me without too many barriers, and I want to make them proud.

Most importantly, I cherish my friends and family. They are the ones that support me through lows and celebrate my highs, and I will always be there for them. I try my best to fill my time with good-feeling memories and create lasting friendships. My family, along with Chinese culture, have also built many of my values which I carry through life; that is respect, honesty and responsibility.
